Supporting Future Architects
We’d like to take a moment to recognize some of the incredible work happening behind the scenes, led by our owner and founder, Allen Rossignol, and longtime team member, Christina Fluman.
As a board member of the Rochester Architecture Foundation (RAF), Allen played a key role in founding the Introduction to Architecture program. This initiative is designed to immerse high school students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction, and design—opening doors to careers they may not have otherwise considered.
Christina played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life, teaching the program’s inaugural class last year and returning once again to guide students from Rochester Prep through this immersive experience.
A vital part of the curriculum includes guest speakers who bring diverse perspectives from related industries. This past Thursday, the students had the privilege of hearing from Kamal Crues, Assistant Engineer for the City of Rochester, and Shawn Dunwoody, an artist, activist, educator, and owner of Dunwoode Design.
Crues and Dunwoody shared an inspiring message: The skills we learn through design have the power to create positive change—not just in our own lives, but within our communities as well. They encouraged students to reflect on their own personal inspirations and discover their unique “why.”
It may not be architecture or design, but everyone deserves the chance to find their passion and purpose.
We’re proud to support this program and look forward to helping even more students uncover their why.
