Five Ways To Keep Them Coming Back For More

In an ever-increasing environment, the experience you provide matters.

We know the better an experience, the more likely guests are to stay, spend more, come back again, and even become brand enthusiasts. Getting guests to visit your brewery or winery is the first step. Then, it’s just as important to get them to come back for more. Aside from having a great product, what can you do?

Below are five tips to ensure your tasting room is a great experience.

1. Create a space that has, well, space.

With construction costs at an all-time high, it is tempting to try to cram more into your spaces. However, if guests aren’t comfortable they won’t stay, and they certainly won’t come back. Ease the feeling of being over-crowded with large open spaces, variation in seating, and bar areas that are accessible on multiple sides or are long enough to serve large groups of people. Consider mobile bars to do pop-up service or to speed up service during busy times.

2. Design for the senses.

Rooms that are too loud are simply not inviting. The same goes for rooms with harsh or insufficient lighting. The right seating keeps guests comfortable. Paying attention to acoustics, lighting, and surfaces leads to the best possible guest experience.

3. Bring it to the next level with food pairings.

Whether visitors are just stopping in or are frequent patrons, people are often looking for food to complement the taste and splendor of the libations they are enjoying. The addition of food to your offerings not only entices your guests to stay longer, but the longer they stay, the more beverages they are likely to have. Your menu should emphasize the quality of your drinks and play a complementary role, and the same care that goes into crafting your beverages should be given to the choice and quality of the food you provide.

4. Take it outside.

Providing an outdoor eating/drinking area is a great way to attract visitors during warmer months. The use of awnings, umbrellas, pergolas, etc. shield your guests from the hot sun providing a more comfortable experience for daytime guests. Transitions from indoors to outdoors should be seamless with easy access points.

5. Give them the inside scoop.

From the minute they walk through your doors to the moment they leave, make your guests feel welcome and comfortable in an environment unique to your brand. A large part of that experience is seeing and knowing how the beverage was made so your guests can understand and feel connected. Elements such as large windows on production spaces are a great way to showcase your process to visitors so they can see for themselves the work that goes into creating your products.
