EAST ROCHESTER UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Lasting relationships, build better schools. For nearly two decades, Edge Architecture has worked with the East Rochester Union Free School District. From large capital projects, to building condition surveys, we’ve dug deep to understand both the immediate needs and the long-term goals of the district. The projects below are illustrative of the care and detail Edge brings to every school project. Each individual project builds on the success of our past work, creating the consistent, comprehensive and physical foundation upon which every school district relies to meet the needs of the community. Intimate knowledge of the past serves to help us shape the future vision of the East Rochester Union Free School District.

Working with Edge for the past 15 years has been an absolute pleasure. Their expertise and acute attention to detail allows me to feel comfortable and make informed decisions. They care about their work and it shows.

MAIN ENTRANCE

The goal was to create a warm and secure environment. Leading with school spirit, modern materials, paired with unique lighting make a friendly, welcoming and safe entryway.

BAND ROOM CONCEPT

This upgrade, brings better acoustics and school spirit to the existing band room; elevating performance, energy, and most importantly… the music.

FOYER*

The building’s main artery features an HD presentation wall. Serving both large and small gatherings, this is a warm environment clad with non-traditional durable materials.

MAIN OFFICE*

The design of school main office evokes warmth and movement, making it a comfortable place no matter why you’re there.

LOCKER ROOM*

A modern, clean approach elevates the traditionally dingy locker room to a welcoming, fresh place to prepare or recover from athletic endeavors.

GYMNASIUM*

This historic, 1958 facility needed a facelift. Preservation, and updating of the original floor was complemented by new paint, doors, and wall pads.

TRACK AND FIELD

With an all-weather track and a synthetic turf field, these updates have the outdoor facilities keeping pace with the improvements inside.

SCIENCE LABORATORY/CLASSROOM*

With STEM front and center, science laboratories and prep rooms were added to existing classrooms using chemical resistant and durable materials.

PERFORMING ARTS PRACTICE SPACE

A neglected space becomes a collaborative environment for performing arts. Old seating and a low ceiling were removed, resulting in a dynamic classroom with improved accessibility.

MULTI-PURPOSE CONFERENCE ROOM

Old storage space was transformed into a multipurpose meeting room. Additions of sink and counter allow greater flexibility, and new exterior windows provide much needed daylight.

NURSE SUITE RENOVATION

A trip to the school nurse is made much more pleasant by clean and bright design complemented by warm, neutral tones and materials.

NURSE SUITE RENOVATION RESTROOM

Mirroring the design used in the locker room, the new bathroom in the nursing suite provides ample space for all situations, while remaining bright and easy to clean.

HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA AND LOUNGE

This space was long overdue for an update. We transformed the space into a mini-student union, with soft seating spaces that can be used for study hall, lounging and socializing.

BIRD MORGAN SCHOOL WINDOW REPLACEMENT

The historical Bird Morgan School’s windows did not need replacement. However, to reduce operating costs, we applied heat-reducing window film, lowering energy usage.

KATE GLEASON POOL

The pool house was gutted and remodeled with all new pool equipment. The deck area was redesigned including the addition of ADA amenities.
